Yves Mulwisa
Yves Mulwisa (F) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader S.Panthers and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The forward had the game-high 13 points adding three assists for S.Panthers in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team FS Warriors (#2, 0-2) with 30-point margin 85-55. It allowed S.Panthers to consolidate first place in the South African BNL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and S.Panthers won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It's Mulwisa's second year at S.Panthers and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Mulwisa has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 10.5ppg), assists (6th best: 2.0apg) and averages solid 2.5spg,60.0% FGP and 45.5% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another S.Panthers' star - guard Lethabo Makgalemele (G). Makgalemele impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Of course together with Mulwisa he helped S.Panthers with another comfortable win outscoring FS Warriors (0-2) 85-55. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Makgalemele is well-known by S.Panthers fans and together with Yves Mulwisa they both established positions among team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.0ppg (#2). He also registered 12.0 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was another S.Panthers' star - Gleen Bidza (G). Bidza scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was another key player of S.Panthers, helping his team with a 72-40 easy win against #2 ranked FS Warriors in a game of the week. S.Panthers has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Bidza also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Bidza as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be another team's leader.
Other top performing players last week:
4. Tshepo Mogotsi (F-92) of S.Panthers - 16 points and 6 rebounds
5. Job Mashwabathi (195-F/C) of FS Warriors - 9 points and 15 rebounds
6. Kagiso Terry (SF) of FS Warriors - 17 points
7. Dinesh Mitchell (190-G-80) of S.Panthers - 9 points and 5 rebounds
8. Sphelele Mdlalose (G) of S.Panthers - 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Baxolile Majola (PG) of FS Warriors - 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Kabelo Kubayi (F) of S.Panthers - 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
